Greetings and salutations B2B Walkers!

This Sunday is the big day when you’ll be taking on the challenge of conquering the Newcastle coastline in the second annual Blacksmiths 2 Breakwall Coast Walk, so here’s a bit of info for the day.
Our BFF’s at the Bureau of Meteorology are telling us that it’s likely to be mostly sunny with light winds and a max temp of 19 degrees and only a 10% chance of any rainfall.
Sun protection recommended from 9:20 am to 2:30 pm, UV Index predicted to reach 6 (high)
Needless to say – SLIP, SLOP, SLAP!
Your event pack can be collected from Newcastle Surf Club on Saturday between 10am and 4pm. Bear in mind there are oodles of road works and road closures around Newcastle at the moment.
A friend can collect your event pack for you if you think they are reasonably trustworthy. Just get them to bring along a print out of your registration confirmation.
You can pick your event pack up before the walk from either Swansea-Belmont or Redhead Surf Club.
If you have booked a bus to get you to the start before your big walk then this will leave from Newcastle Train Station.
6:30am for the bus that will take you all the way to Blacksmiths for the start of the full 26.9km B2B Walk
9:00am for the bus that will get you to Redhead
Your tee and bib is your ticket to ride, or your registration confirmation printout.
Don’t be late!
The official B2B Walk start times are at follows:
7:30am from Blacksmiths
10:00am from Redhead
12:00noon from Merewether
Both Swansea-Belmont and Redhead Surf Clubs will have a BBQ Brekkie sizzle going on before (or during) your big walk so you have plenty of nutrition in your belly.
There will also be fruit and water stops along the way at most of the other surf clubs and also at Dudley and Glenrock Reserve.
Bring your 10 x $2 coins with you to say a big thanks to all the volunteers who are out there looking after you. Coin drops are not mandatory but they are compulsory, and will give you oodles of warm fuzzy feelings.
Also bring your smartypantsphone, as there’s a cute little online map on the course page of the website showing you where you are in relation to the course. As long as the blue dot says on the red line you are on track, but there’s also this big ocean on your right that should be a bit of a giveaway as well.
A phone is also handy to have in case you or someone near you has any difficulties and assistance is needed.
When you get to Stryzlecki Lookout and you’re on the downhill home stretch, just be advised that there’s quite a bit of roadworks and other construction goodness happening around Newy. Just follow the signs and be courteous to others who are sharing the footpaths with you – even if they aren’t wearing a B2B tee and/or bib.
Your finish line medal will be waiting for you at Nobbys Breakwall, but your free finish line drink will be waiting for you a little ways back at Newcastle Surf Club. Stress not, you do not have to walk back to Newy Beach as we’ll have shuttle buses running all arvo for you.
See you on Sunday morning for the second annual Blacksmiths 2 Breakwall Coast Walk!

After a highly successful inaugural launch of Newcastle’s newest mass-participation fundraising event in 2016, the Blacksmiths 2 Breakwall Coast Walk is returning on Sunday 10th September 2017 and will be even better!

In addition to the full 26.9km trek from Blacksmiths all the way into Nobbys Breakwall, there will also be a start from Redhead that will still cover around 15.5km of beaches and bushland, and a 5km ‘family walk’ from Merewether that takes in Bather’s Way and King Edward park.

This is a 100% charity event, with all proceeds going to the Surf Life Saving Clubs in the Hunter Branch, with monies also being donated to Ronald McDonald House

– Blacksmiths 2 Breakwall Coast Walk t-shirt
– Race number bib
– Water refills at surf clubs along the walk
– Free photos
– Insurance
– First Aid that you hopefully will not need
– Finisher’s Medal

– Sand in your shoes (*guaranteed)

Registration is now open, and if you keep the ocean on your right, you’ll be right too!
